Running
Years running: 20
PRs: 4:57 Mile; 17:20 5K; 29:29 5 Mile; 37:52 10K; 1:24:33 Half Marathon; 3:11:33 Marathon; 4:47:? 50K; 8:20:59 50 Mile.

Best ultra performance: I haven't turned in a good one yet. 5K is my best distance.

Most memorable ultra performance: Dallas five-o fifty miler. As a 5K runner it was like climbing Mt. Everest, but I finished.

Typical training week: Long run on Sunday, intervals Wednesday, junk miles for fun and recreation the other days.

Injuries: I broke a toe 9 weeks before the Boston Marathon this year, that really put a crimp in my training.

Favorite ultra(s): Quivering Quads in Missouri. Rockin K was a hoot too.

Favorite running shoes: The now extinct Nike "Zoom Alpha".

Favorite handler: Race volunteers.

Favorite place to run: Konza Prairie Natural Grass Preserve, south of Manhattan.

Favorite type of running surface: Trails

Ultrarunning idol(s): Ann Trason

Why do you run ultras? After 20 years of running, I'm looking for new challenges. Ultras have a more laid back "enjoy the run" feel to it.
Short-term goal: Run under 3:05 in the marathon, run under 4:00 for a 50K.

Long-term goal: Run a 100 miler. Run a marathon or ultra in all 50 states.

Favorite ultra quote(s): I think it was Phil Sheridan that said, "start slow and get slower from there".
Comments: I like the people in the ultra community. They're friendly and seem to be more motivated by a co-operative spirit than a competitive spirit.
