Running
Years running: 17 (have always run some, seriously since 1983)

PRs: 10K 36:01; Marathon 2:49:02; 50 Miles 6:49; 100 miles 16:58; 24 hours
125 miles; 48 hours 178 miles.

Years running ultras: Since 1990

Number of ultras finished: 25

Best ultra performance: Still to come. Compared to the competition I seem
to do the best in cold and rainy conditions. (IE: 3rd at Arkansas Traveler
100 mile in 1994 and 4th at Leadville trail 100 in 1995.)

Most memorable ultra performance: First Leadville Trail 100 in 1992. Mainly
because I didn't tell many people what I was going to Colorado for and I
really didn't know anyone who could give me the much needed advice for what
I was attempting.

Typical training week: Long runs on Saturday & Sunday of between 15 & 40
miles. One speed work session per week.(when I can convince myself how bad
I really need it.) Total miles for the week average about 60 during the off
times and 80+ when training specifically for a race.

Injuries: Nothing serious

Favorite ultra(s): Leadville Trail 100 & Flat Rock 50K

Favorite running shoes: Asics 2040

Favorite food/drinks during an ultra: M&M's, Conquest.

Favorite handler: Only handler I have ever had was my sister and
brother-in-law for Western States and once at Leadville.

Favorite place to run: Turquoise Lake (Leadville) in the daylight.

Favorite type of running surface: Trails

Ultrarunning idol(s): Too many friends to mention. In every race there are
numerous performances from the winners to the last place finisher who
deserve to be in this category.

Why do you run ultras? For the challenge of the event and for all of the
great people you meet.

Short-term goal: Run as many of the 100 mile trail runs in under 24 hours as
possible.

Long-term goal: Be the oldest finisher in an Ultra.

Favorite ultra quote(s): "The athlete knows he controls what happens to him.
He blames no one but himself when things go wrong." George Sheehan

Comments: Ultrarunning brings together a lot of fantastic people and gives
you the opportunity to run in some of the most beautiful places on earth.
Make the most of this opportunity, and make sure you give something back to
the sport.
